Earthquake is a musical work which played to sellout houses during Los Angeles' Inner City Cultural Center's 1973-1974 season. It bears no relationship to the film of the same name announced shortly after the musical began its extended run. Although Earthquake's music and lyrics address themselves to life in "sunny" Southern California, the topics discussed are familiar to people everywhere. They range from a hilariously frank discussion of birth control to a stirring salute to LA's first black mayor, Tom Bradley. This original cast album was recorded in the superb facilities of The Burbank Studios.
